A very beautiful performance, and in excellent preservation” along with its pendant, No. 18, “A Ditto, representing the Evening, its companion, of equal beauty. - From the same collection”.
Michael Bryan and at his sale at 22 Savile Row, April 27, 1795, lot 53(the pendant Lot 54).
Edward Coxe, His sale, April 23rd, 1807, Lot 63, 150 gs (the pendant Lot 64).

Note:
The pair of paintings were separated after the Coxe sale of 1807. “Evening” passed into the collection of Sir Francis Freeling and “Morning” into the collection of Earls Cadogan.
